Camden Catholic Football Team Slips by Moorestown, 18-13

The boys' soccer team dropped its first game of the season, to Clearview, but picked up wins over two county rivals this week.

The Camden Catholic High School football team limited Moorestown to two touchdowns as the Irish defeated the Quakers, 18-13, win this week, according to the Burlington County Times.

Anthony Williamson had both scores with the Quakers, on runs of 3 and 33 yards.

After Williamson's second score, Moorestown led, 13-12. Camden Catholic quarterback Matt Goldner hit Tyree Rodgers with the winning touchdown pass, a 37-yarder, with about five minutes left in the game.

Rodgers had returned the opening kickoff 92 yards to put Camden Catholic up, 7-0. The Irish connected on field goals of 27 and 17 yards.

Boys' soccer

Clearview 3, Moorestown 1: The Pioneers handed the Quakers their first loss of the season. Enrique Arvelo scored the Quakers' lone goal. Keeper JT Bretschneider made six saves, as Moorestown fell to 4-1-1.

Moorestown 2, Holy Cross 1: Mike Handlan's two goals propelled the Quakers to victory. Enrique Arvelo and Anthony Youseff each had an assist. Goalie JT Bretschneider stopped three shots.

Moorestown 4, Burlington Township 3: Four different players scored for the Quakers in the one-goal victory. Enrique Arvelo and Thomas Dovell each contributed a goal and an assist.

Mike Handlan and Eric Soffornoff each found the back of the net. Trevor Hall and Mike Kassak contributed assists.

Goalie JT Bretschneider made four saves.

Palmyra 2, Moorestown Friends 1: Tommy Martin scored the only goal for Moorestown Friends, who also fell to Shipley, Pennsylvania, 3-0 this week.

Girls' soccer

Moorestown defeated Burlington Township, 2-0, early in the week. The Quakers were 4-0 at that point, and return to the field Tuesday night when they host Northern Burlington, 6:30 p.m.

Moorestown Friends tied Abington Friends, 2-2, this week. They also dropped a 2-0 decision to Peddie.
