Flag Football for Girls? Community Says 'Yes'

Early registration is open for Moorestown Youth Flag Football, which is adding two girls-only leagues for the first time this season.

After receiving responses from roughly 100 families, Moorestown Youth Flag Football (MYFFL) will launch two girls-only divisions for the 2013 season.

Commissioner Greg Giannone said respondents were overwhelmingly in favor of separate boys and girls divisions for middle school (seventh and eighth grade) and high school (ninth through 12th) players.

Public opinion was split about 50/50 for having separate divisions for elementary-age players, he said. As a result, first through sixth grades will continue to be coed.

Early registration is now open until May 15. The fee for early registration is $70. The price climbs to $80 during the regular registration period from May 16 to June 15. Late registration, from June 16 to the end of June, is $95.

Also this season, first through sixth grades and boys and girls middle school leagues will rejoin the NFL FLAG Football Program (www.nflflag.com) with official NFL team logo/colors jerseys, including individual player names printed on both sides of the reversible jerseys and uniform matching MYFFL shorts.
