Forline Joins Elite Company

Moorestown's Thomas Forline lost his third-round match Saturday at the state wrestling tournament, but a wrestleback win secures him a spot on the podium.

Despite losing his third-round match at the state wrestling tournament Saturday, Moorestown's Thomas Forline will still place in the top 8—one of only a handful of Moorestown wrestlers to accomplish such a feat.

(having secured a first-round bye) against Matawan's Glenn Cross yesterday, Forline advanced to the quarterfinals Saturday to face Roselle Park's Vic Pozsonyi.

Forline's father, Joseph, said Thomas hung in at the start of the match, but was eventually overpowered by Pozsonyi.

"(Pozsonyi) was one of the favorites, so Tom went in as a little bit of an underdog," Joseph said.

Thomas lost 8-1 to Pozsonyi, but went on to win his wrestleback against Jancel Nunez, of Nottingham. The victory ensured Thomas will place no lower than eighth, and as high as third, depending on his performance in two bouts Saturday night, according to Joseph.

"(The wrestleback) was a real important match to him cause he knew he could place. He was ecstatic," said Joseph, who claimed Moorestown coaches told him very few Moorestown wrestlers had ever placed at states.
