Moorestown Among Hosts for National Veterans Wheelchair Games in August

Moorestown will host the archery competition on Aug. 13 and 16, according to the Burlington County Times.

Moorestown will be among the Philadelphia-area towns hosting the 2014 National Veterans Wheelchair Games in August, the Burlington County Times reports.

The games, presented by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Paralyzed Veterans of America, begin in Philadelphia on Aug. 12, and move to Burlington County the following day.

Moorestown High School will host the archery portion of the competition on Aug. 13 and 16, and a tennis clinic on Aug. 16, according to the report.

The event concludes Aug. 17.

The National Veterans Wheelchair Games is a sports and rehabilitation program for military service veterans who are confined to wheelchairs, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website.

The event is free and open to the public.

About 600 athletes will participate in the games, including a Vietnam veteran who suffers from multiple sclerosis, according to CBS Philadelphia.
