Moorestown Baseball Team Falls to Washington Township in Diamond Classic

The Minutemen defeated the Quakers, 7-1, in the first round of the tournament on Saturday.

The Moorestown High School baseball team allowed six runs through four innings and never recovered in a 7-1 loss to Washington Township in the 41st Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic in Deptford on Saturday.

Moorestown's only run came on a two-out error in the fourth inning, according to nj.com.

The Quakers are 12-5 this season and return to the diamond on Monday at Holy Cross, 3:30 p.m.

Washington Township improved to 15-5 and will face Cedar Creek in the second round of the Diamond Classic on Sunday.

The first place teams in the nine South Jersey high school baseball divisions earn automatic bids to the tournament. Seven teams earn at-large bids based on ranking.

Moorestown earned an at-large bid to the tournament.
