It was the second win this week for the Quakers (8-14).

“This week, we needed these wins to carry momentum into the playoffs,” said head coach Christine Hill. “They need to see that their hard work has paid off. This was a nice confidence booster.”

Moorestown, seeded No. 14 in the South Group III tournament, will face No. 3 Pemberton in the first round of the NJSIAA tournament at 4:30 p.m. March 1 at Pemberton. The Hornets edged past the Quakers 43-41 in an earlier matchup this year.

“We should have handled them the first time,” said Hill. “We need to contain (Bria) Champion.”

Champion had 18 points against the Quakers in the first game.

Hill, however, is pleased with how her team has progressed this season.

“We’re finally starting to click,” she said. “Different people are stepping up at different times.

“They’re bringing a team mentality and intensity to the game. It’s a total team effort.”

In the earlier game, the Moorestown boys’ team easily handled Audubon, taking a lead six-point lead in the first quarter and never looking back. Moorestown led by 20 or more points three different times during the game.

“We’ve seen a lot of different teams this season,” said boys’ coach Shawn Anstey. “Every game has prepared us for the playoffs and for Deptford.”

Zac Frantz led Moorestown with 15 points. Wes Kerr added 14.

The Quakers (12-12), who are the No. 11 seed in the South Group III tournament, will play at No. 6 Deptford at 6:30 p.m. March 1.

Anstey said the key for the Quakers will be their ability to contain Deptford’s guards.

“We need to utilize our big guys and control the tempo,” said Anstey.
