"At times we showed offensive patience working the ball around," said Chris Hill, who is in her third season as varsity coach for the Quakers. "Defensively we had intensity and aggression, we just weren't able to sustain for 32 minutes."

The Quakers finished last season 7-18, 3-5 in the league.

"We go every game, we don't look any further than one game ahead," said Hill. "We're taking it one practice at a time, one possession at a time. If we do the small things well, it will lead to great things done well."

The Quakers, who opened the season with a loss at Trenton Catholic, have four returning starters, all juniors, from last season: Toy, Estevez, McMonagle and Marisa Randazzo. Freshman Emily Filoon also starts for Moorestown.

"I can see maturity and a deeper sense of confidence," Hill said of her squad. "We want to foster that maturity."

In other action, the Moorestown boys' varsity basketball team beat Woodbury 42-40. Mike Angelieri had a game-leading 11 points. Wes Kerr added 9.
