Moorestown High School Takes Girls' Tennis Title

Moorestown will now compete in the state tournament, beginning Wednesday.

Moorestown was nearly flawless in capturing the South Jersey Group 3 title.

Top-seeded Moorestown defeated No. 3 Seneca, 4-1, in Monday's South Jersey final, according to nj.com.

Only first singles player Breezy Maravich and the first doubles team had an easy time of it, though.

Maravich defeated Alexandria Felt, 6-0, 6-3. Siena Cashan and Anna Mary Shetler defeated Angela Errigo and Katie O'Brien, 6-1, 6-2.

Everyone else was pushed to the limit.

Second singles player Kelly Hopkins fell to Amanda Ritter, 7-5, 7-6.

Third singles player Alex Boone picked up the win, but did so in three sets, as she defeated Jordan Meyer, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

The second doubles duo of Andrea Girocobbo and Nori Horvitz picked up a three-set victory over Angela DeKlerk and McKenzie McGlone 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.

Moorestown improved to 16-2 and advanced to the Group 3 State tournament, which begins Wednesday.

Seneca, which beat Hammonton and Toms River South by identical 5-0 scores and Mainland, 3-2, to reach the final, fell to 12-5.
