Quakers Set to Host Oakcrest in Round One of Playoffs

The Quakers, hoping to turn their season around after two straight losses, play host to Oakcrest tonight at 6 p.m.

Moorestown (5-4) is looking to get back in the win column as Oakcrest (4-4) comes to town tonight (6 p.m.) for an NJSIAA South, Group 3 playoff game. The Quakers are coming off a to Constitution Division rival Cherry Hill West (2-6) last Friday night. The Quakers are also in the midst of their second two-game losing streak of the season.

Moorestown lost to and in back-to-back games earlier in the season and has lost to and Cherry Hill West in back-to-back weeks. In the Cherry Hill West game, quarterback Andrew Lisa threw five interceptions to go along with 261 yards passing and one touchdown pass.

Oakcrest is riding a four-game winning streak and coming off a bye week. The last time Oakcrest took the field was October 28 against Pleasantville in a 55-0 win. Oakcrest began the season winless, going 0-4, and had not scored more than 16 points in a game. During its current four-game winning streak, Oakcrest has posted four shutouts, scoring 20 or more points in all four games.

The Quakers have used their quick-score offense to their advantage all season, putting up points quickly and efficiently. Led by Lisa, the offense has weapons all over the field in running backs Sidney Ruffin and Delaney Wallace, wide receiver Anthony Bonett, and wide receiver Zac Frantz.

Moorestown’s defense will need to improve its play tonight after allowing 38 points to Cherry Hill West last week. The Quakers gave up three rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns, and three scoring plays of 15 yards (33-yard run, 18-yard pass, and 25-yard pass) or more in the loss.
