Other sports: Wrestling and track

Moorestown Patch: How do you juggle your time while constantly being in practice or on the track?

Jack Inglis: It's been difficult but I never really felt like I was juggling. I just try to get everything for school done on time.

Patch: What is it like to be a senior leader?

Inglis: It's been difficult, especially with the senior class last year and the great runners they were but we were all friends and I sort of do most of the stuff they did but I try to be more fun as a captain.

Patch: What got you so interested in cross-country?

Inglis: Well, I guess it started in seventh grade when I started running track and I got to meet my current coaches. Even then they were taking an interest in me, trying to get me to run in high school. Also, my dad ran cross-country in high school and is still coaching for Maple Shade, so that makes it fun to go against my dad.

Patch: What is so enjoyable about cross-country for you?

Inglis: One of the most enjoyable things about it is that I get to hang out with all my friends. We can play Frisbee and just hang out before we run every day.

Patch: If there was one thing you could teach the younger players on the team before the season is over what would it be?

Inglis: I would teach them if you want to be successful you have to want to it. If you just get angry when you have a bad race then you don’t get any better but when you learn from your mistakes you will not only become a better runner but a better person.

Patch: What are your favorite classes and why?

Inglis: I have to say history and gym because history is just exciting to me and gym is just a fun time to enjoy yourself.

Patch: What has been the highlight of your cross-country career so far?

Inglis: Making varsity my 10th grade year because I had to work real hard to break on to a good squad of guys and show my importance to the team.

Patch: What is the most important thing the coaching staff has taught you in your time on the squad?

Inglis: The most important thing my coaches have taught me is "the strength of the wolf is the pack and the strength of the pack is the wolf," which is my one coach’s motto. He is saying that together we can achieve more than just individuals can and it has stuck with me throughout high school.

Patch: What have you learned from your teammates while running cross-country for Moorestown?

Inglis: I have learned that the person that can believe more has a better shot because sometimes it just comes down to who wants it more.

Patch: What motivates you to succeed in each meet?

Inglis: The fact that I want to do better and I want to see my team do well too.

Patch: Which school has been your biggest rival throughout your varsity career?

Inglis: Cherokee, because they always win.
