Undefeated Quakers Begin Playoff Journey

After dominating the competition and finishing the regular season undefeated, the girls’ lacrosse team heads into the playoffs brimming with confidence.

But for head coach Deanna Knobloch and her girls, this is just the beginning.

“It’s a whole new season for us,” the coach said. “It’s all or nothing. You’ve got to win to move on. I have no doubt we are going to face some tough competition (in the playoffs).”

The Quakers’ (20-0) playoff journey began today with a first round match against Jackson Liberty. They tamed the Lions with a 20-0 win to continue their undefeated streak and advance to the second round. They'll face Kingsway at 1 p.m. Friday at home. 

Thanks to its impressive run this season, Moorestown is on virtually everyone’s top 10 list (again) of lacrosse programs for both the state and the country. MaxPreps had them at No. 2 in the country as of Friday. LaxPower.com ranked Moorestown No. 1 in the state and No. 2 in the country, while Lacrosse Magazine listed Moorestown No. 3 in the nation as of May 2 and ESPN’s Powerade Top 50 has Moorestown at No. 2 in the country as of May 15.

While the rankings are nice—especially their No. 1 ranking in New Jersey, guaranteeing them home-field throughout the playoffs until the Group 3 finals—Knobloch said the only ranking she’s really concerned with is the one at the end of the season, the one that says they’re truly the best in the state.

After falling short of a state title the past two years— (they defeated Ridgewood 15-10 last week for their 18th win)—. And Knobloch, , said their success has been a product of a total team effort.

“The best part of our team is there’s not one or two stars. They play as a team,” she said. “There’s a great air about this team. They know that when they play up to their potential, they can be great.”
