Moorestown Football Team to Face Toms River South in Playoff Opener

Playoff matchups were announced Sunday morning.

It’s playoff time.

The cutoff date has come and gone, and high school football teams throughout the state are ready to begin their respective quests for championships.

The cutoff date was Saturday, Nov. 9. The top eight teams in each group qualified for the playoffs, which begin on Friday, Nov. 15.

The top eight teams in each group are determined through the state’s power points system.


The Timber Creek High School football team earned the top seed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 4 playoffs, according to brackets released on nj.com Sunday morning.

Matchups become official at noon on Monday.

The No. 1 seed Chargers (7-1) host No. 8 Cherry Hill West (4-4) in the quarterfinals on Friday night, 7 p.m.

Timber Creek defeated Cherry Hill West, 52-28, earlier this season.

Despite a 4-5 record, Moorestown also made the playoffs in this group, as the No. 7 seed. The Quakers visit No. 2 Toms River South (6-2) on Friday night.

At 4-5, Highland also qualified as the No. 7 seed in the South Jersey Group 3 playoffs. The Tartans visit No. 2 Northern Burlington (6-2) in the quarterfinals, Friday night a 7 p.m.

South Jersy Group 2 features three undefeated teams, two of which open with teams sporting 7-1 records in the quarterfinals.

Camden (8-0) earned the top seed in South Jersey Group 2. It hosts No. 8 Cedar Creek (7-1) on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 16, 1 p.m.

West Deptford (8-0) remained undefeated with its win this weekend, and snatched the No. 4 seed. The Eagles host No. 5 Haddonfield (6-2) in the quarterfinals Friday night.

West Deptford defeated Haddonfield, 31-14, earlier this season.

Cinnaminson (7-1) earned the No. 3 seed, and will host No. 6 Bridgeton (8-2) on Friday night.

Woodstown (8-0) earned the No. 2 seed, and will host No. 7 Sterling (7-1) on Friday night.

Undefeated Holy Spirit (8-0) earned in the top seed in Non-Public Group 2, and will host No. 8 Pingry (4-5) in the quarterfinals on Friday night.

No. 4 Camden Catholic (4-4) hosts No. 5 Bishop Eustace (4-4) on Friday night. Bishop Eustace defeated Camden Catholic, 10-6, earlier this season.
