Stressed? Resident Yogi and Psychic Medium Alaine Portner of The Yoga Center of Medford teaches us how to unwind and relax—the healthy way!

◊ Prioritize your day with a list to distinguish the "have-to's" from the "hopeful" accomplishments. You may not be an Olympian multi-tasker everyday so process the deeds in your own time and your own way, without being overwhelmed.

◊ Plan a nutritional diet for TODAY and frequent a healthy market, vitamin shop or homeopathy provider. Reduce or replace alcohol, tobacco, additives and caffeine with better choices and monitor the changes in your body and mind.

◊ Define your own self by you, not others. Flaunt your unique expression of self through your style of clothing, paintings, poems or passions.Learn and grow at your own pace through your own methods.

◊ Restore yourself with Yoga/Pilates and be with yourself in peace.
Conscious breath work through movement and meditation balances the stressed condition.

◊ Surround yourself in water...plunging into the ocean, a lake, indoor pool or your bath tub. Experience the buoyancy factor as you relax into the "currency" of life and watch today's challenges ripple away from you.

◊ Create a dream board with magazine or Internet pictures, to expose the passions of your life's quest. Let dreams replace your stressed mind with promises for today and tomorrow.

◊ Help others by exemplifying your stress reducers and prove that actions speak louder than words. Buy a pizza or prepare a healthy dish of devotion and share it with a needy neighbor, stranger or friend.

◊ Massage your body and spirit, by exchanging massage therapy with a friend, or participating in a monthly maintenance with a practitioner.
Indulge.

◊ Meditate or rest the mind while awake. Sit in your office chair or by a tree, close your eyes and let your presence be in the moment. Overcome the distractions and create a more confident outcome for the next few minutes.

◊ Turn up your favorite tunes and dance in front of a mirror as if no one is watching. Let's get our grooves back on. Sign up for a walk-a-thon or fund-raiser that has a greater cause than your own, for any and all living things.

◊ Discipline your body to engage in sleep rituals. Choose a soothing cd, quiet room or open your window. In order to have balance during the day, we can devote attention to the most restful nights of sleep. There are many causes of restless sleep, begin to isolate the factors and deal with each one at a time.

◊ Wake up rested, by initiating your sleep with positive daily stress reducers. Prepare your favorite morning smoothies with the heartiest of ingredients that mimic you and your vitality. Shake and Stir the smoothies. Shake yourself into a transition from stress to Smoothie Sailing. Daily, one day and night at a time.
