County Seeking Volunteers for Cleanup at Boundary Creek

Don't mind getting your hands (or gloves) dirty? Come out Tuesday for a park cleanup at Boundary Creek Park in Moorestown.

Burlington County freeholders are seeking volunteers to help the Clean Communities Office and with a park cleanup next Tuesday at Boundary Creek Park in Moorestown.

“Our county residents have really stepped up to help us keep our parks clean,” said Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio. “We really appreciate all their efforts. It is great to see folks working together to keep our community green.”

Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants, long sleeves, long socks and sturdy close-toed shoes that can get muddy. The cleanup will focus on the removal of invasive honeysuckle plants in grassy areas where insects are present, so volunteers may wish to use insect repellent as well. Volunteers are asked to bring along large garden shears, loppers and/or hand clippers if they have them. A limited supply will be available at the event.

Bags and gloves will be provided. Participants younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult, and letters documenting volunteer community service will be available to students. (This is a rain or shine event; however, severe weather will cancel the event.)

Registration is requested for planning purposes, but volunteers may also just show up the day of. A link to event details and sign-up can be found on the county parks page: co.burlington.nj.us/parks. Click on the “Volunteers Needed - Boundary Creek Park” link listed under announcements. Individuals can also contact the Clean Communities Office at cleancomm@co.burlington.nj.us, or 609-499-1001, ext. 266.

Boundary Creek Park is located near 100 Creek Road, Moorestown. The cleanup begins at 8:30 a.m. and goes to 12:30 p.m.

Another park cleanup will be held at Palmyra Cove Nature Park (located next to the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge, Route 73) from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, September 15, rain or shine. Gloves and bags will be provided by the cleanup sponsor, New Jersey Clean Communities.

For more information on this cleanup, call 856-829-1900, ext. 263, or email esanderson@bcbridges.org. Directions can be found at palmyracove.org.
