Garden Club House Tour Returns This Week

Proceeds from the show Thursday benefit the Moorestown Garden Club's various civic endeavors.

Experience an explosion of floral color this Thursday during the Moorestown Garden Club’s latest show, and get a glimpse into some of the town’s most nicest new and preserved homes.

Gina Zegel, publicity co-chair for the show, said the show will feature 60 floral arrangements spread out between five Moorestown homes, with each home featuring a unique theme.

The arrangements are created by Garden Club members, as well as other individuals the club invites to participate in the quadrennial event.

Describing the show’s appeal, Zegel said, “People get to see the talents of the Garden Club and how the Garden Club works within the town. This is how we make money so that we can then go on and do our community service.”

She said the club raises approximately $5,000-8,000 from the show, which they then put back into various endeavors, including buying flowers to decorate Main Street, Junior Garden Club workshops and $500 scholarships for students pursuing horticultural degrees.

Before the official start of the show Thursday, state judges will tour the homes and judge the arrangements. Awards will be handed out later in the day.

Zegel said the club will also have horticulture specimens on display and a marketplace open at the during the show, along with other special exhibits.

The show runs from 12:30-8 p.m. Thursday, with the horticulture display running from 1-8 p.m. and the marketplace open from noon to 6 p.m. Advance tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Community House, as well as several Main Street shops. Tickets can also be purchased the day of the show for $20.
