Interact Club Holds Blood Drive

Community helps save lives.

The Interact Club held its spring blood drive May 20, attracting more than 100 donors, including 90 students.

The club holds four blood drives each year—a winter drive in November, a Martin Luther King Day drive, a spring drive in May and a summer drive in June. Brianna Defoe, who helped run the event, says there are opportunities to donate blood beyond the school's annual drives. To find a blood drive, visit americanredcross.org and type in your area code. Requirements to donate blood are also on the website.

"I find that those who do come are repeat donors who have been donating for many years," said Barbara Gelli, head of the blood drive. "One donation can save two lives or more.”

Proof of Gelli’s statement was Lorrie Hullfish, who has donated three times this year.

“You feel good to do it," she said.
