Sustainable Moorestown Making Headway
The Green Team Advisory Committee is in the midst of executing a number of sustainable initiatives, including offering its 2 cents on the town hall complex.
’s Green Team Advisory Committee has been in place for several months and is actively moving forward. The Green Team is comprised of three advisory members and 10 regular members. Until elections for officers takes place early in the fall, Environmental Advisory Committee chair Chet Dawson will be acting as chair. The members are:

On , Sustainable Moorestown had an information table with sign-up sheets next to the STEM plant sale in front of the . A number of residents and non-residents stopped to ask questions and several people signed on to help with committee work.
And thanks to the Browning-Hess Farm, the Sustainable Moorestown float, pulled by a large farm tractor, stood out at the .
Several projects are already underway. The group assisted the with plantings for its new rain garden, with the goal of making it a demonstration rain garden for the community.
Green Team member Lisa Petriello has been taking a series of six full-day courses on sustainability from the Cloud Institute and is passing on what she learns to the rest of the team.
Several members recently met with Rob Notley, project executive with Greyhawk, and Rick Ragan, principal of Ragan Design Group, to discuss sustainable efforts for the . The committee was pleased with what it heard and suggested several ideas.
As the township continues to look for ways to save money, Sustainable Moorestown is committed to developing an energy committee to look at related cost reduction measures and is investigating ways to increase recycling beyond the curbside program.
The group was also successful in obtaining a $5,250 matching grant from the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions to update the township’s outdated Environmental Resource Inventory. The current one was developed by STEM over a 10-year period. STEM has stepped up by providing the township’s matching portion for this grant.
