This Earth Day, Walk the Walk

Members of the Pompeston Creek Watershed Association want you to walk with them Sunday.

Don’t just talk the talk—walk the walk.

Sunday is Earth Day and members of the Pompeston Creek Watershed Association are hoping you’ll join them in seeing the .

starts at 1 p.m. at Pompeston Park in Moorestown, located at the end of Georgian Drive. There, a group will gather to follow the creek through Cinnaminson and end at Riverton Memorial Park.

Pariticpants can walk all or some of the five-mile route. Cindy Pierson, president of the PCWA, said bicycle riders have joined in the trek, too.

There will be checkpoints along the way and at the end of it all, the PCWA will hold its first-ever rubber duck race.

The walk is only $10 and rubber ducks are $5 to race or six for $25. Money raised helps pay for educational programs in schools, and community organizations in Cinnaminson, Moorestown, Riverton and Delran. It also goes to monitoring equipment, native plans, supplies and much more.

And you can be sure Pierson and other PCWA volunteers will point out the best places for hiking, birding, wild-life watching and canoeing.

Registration begins at noon, the walk starts at 1 p.m. and the rubber duck race is at 3 p.m.
