The township's Public Works crews are prepped for the storm as well.

UPDATE: Moorestown public schools and Our Lady of Good Counsel School will be closed Friday due to the weather.

Township officials are prepped for a winter storm that could dump several inches of snow on our area Thursday night into Friday.

Moorestown Police Lt. Lee Lieber, the township's emergency management coordinator, said Public Works was already getting its trucks ready Thursday afternoon, and that the police department would have extra patrols out during the storm.

He advised residents to keep their vehicles off the streets—driving and parking—if possible to make it easier for Public Works to plow and salt.

Acting Superintendent Lynn Shugars said school officials would likely decide whether to open, close or delay school early Friday morning, at roughly 5 a.m.

She said the district's transportation supervisor would assess the road conditions early Friday morning, while buildings and grounds crews would be on hand to prep the schools should the district open. Shugars also plans to consult with superintendents in nearby districts prior to making a decision.

Though she said forecasters "have not been particularly accurate lately," the district has to err on the side of caution. Shugars said, in addition to the projected snowfall, she's concerned about the potential ice and frigid temperatures "Hercules" is expected to bring.

"I'm concerned with little ones at bus stops in sub-zero wind chill," she said.

Parents will be notified through the district's messaging system whether schools are open or closed. You can also check the district website for updates.
