Back to School Dates, Tax Deadline Highlight Week Ahead

Hope you had a great Labor Day weekend. 

Moorestown School District students have another week of "no more pencils, no more books ...," but teachers return to the classroom this week. Tuesday is the faculty's first official day back, followed by transition day on Friday for students in kindergarten and grades 4, 7 and 9. The first day of school for all students is next Monday (Sept. 9). 

Moorestown Friends begins the year on Friday. An ice cream social for new Lower School students (K-4) will be held Wednesday, as well as a new student orientation for all other student. Other important school dates can be found on the Moorestown Friends website.

And Our Lady of Good Counsel students return to school Wednesday—except for kindergarteners, who get back Thursday and Friday.

On Tuesday, U.S. Rep Jon Runyan will meet with members of the Moorestown Police Department, continuing a series of meet-and-greets with first responders across Burlington County. The former Eagles OT will crisscross the county, meeting with emergency responders in Burlington Township, Evesham, Westampton and Willingboro as well.

On Friday, the Moorestown Library will present a free program designed to help grandparents and caretakers on the better understand the challenges and risks of behavioral and substance abuse confronting today's children and adolescents.
The seminar is free, but registration is required. Calling the library now at 856-234-0333.

Also, if you haven't gotten your taxes in yet, don't worry—you still have time. Since third-quarter tax bills went out late, the grace period was extended until 4:30 p.m. Friday (Sept. 6). But get 'em in now!

Lastly, summer may be winding down, but the weather is still plenty summer-y, with highs in the low 80s for much of the week, then dipping to the mid- to low 70s on Friday and Saturday.
