Moorestown Fourth of July Parade Highlights This Week

Moorestown is headed into a shortened week, thanks to the Fourth of July holiday, but there’s plenty going on in town to fill your days off. 

Moorestown’s Fourth of July parade is back on Main Street, stepping off at noon on Thursday. This year’s parade celebrates all things “Made in America.” It’s not too late to march in the parade if you’re a veteran; simply show up at the staging area at Central and Chester avenues.

While you’re waiting for the parade to start, don’t forget to stroll down Main Street and check out the entrants in the Fourth of July storefront decorating contest.

If you want to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, you’ll need to leave Moorestown. There are plenty of options around South Jersey: Patch’s list has two dozen fireworks locations, with some in the days before or after the Fourth.

The holiday week means government offices will be closed on Thursday, and some Friday as well. Moorestown municipal offices are closed both days. The library is closed Thursday (which means the Lazy B book club discussion was postponed until July 11), while Moorestown Mall is open Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Fourth of July also will change Moorestown’s trash collection schedule somewhat. The revised schedule for the upcoming week is:

• Monday collection – no change
• Tuesday collection – no change
• Wednesday collection – no change
• Thursday collection – collected Wednesday instead
• Tuesday and Friday collection – only collected Tuesday

Don’t forget you still have time to sign your child up for Camp Invention, held in Moorestown July 29-Aug. 2. The camp is for kids in first through six grades, and campers rotate through four sections in a week designed to pique their inventive spirit.
