Moorestown eliminates Timber Creek with a 3-0 victory in the South Jersey Group 3 semifinals.
In 2010 and 2011, the Timber Creek Regional High School boys’ soccer team eliminated Moorestown in the Group 3 playoffs. The Quakers found revenge in a big way this season. Less than a month after Moorestown defeated Timber Creek in the Coaches Cup, the Quakers did it again—this time by way of a 3-0 victory in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 semifinals Thursday. Mike Handlin scored all three goals, sending No. 1 seed Moorestown to the Group 3 championship, where it will face No. 2 Kingsway. Handlin opened the scoring two minutes in, sending a chip shot past senior goalie Trevor Tierno. The Quakers’ lead remained 1-0 until the second half when Handlin scored twice more to ice the game. Moorestown's boys' soccer team blanked Northern Burlington 3-0 Wednesday.
The boys' soccer team came into their game against Northern Burlington Wednesday sitting at 2-2 on the season and were looking for a big win to get over the .500 mark. Northern Burlington (0-6-1) proved to be the perfect team to play, coming into the game without a win this season and having only scored two goals in 2011. Nick Savino, the Quakers' goalkeeper, had to make only one save in the shutout win. At the other end of the field, Northern Burlington goalkeeper Kevin Heart made five saves. The Moorestown (3-2) goal scorers were Austin Silver, Jacob Dowiak and Enrique Aruelo. The Quakers travel to Clearview Saturday for an 11 a.m. game.

Following an 11-8-2 mark in 2010, the Quakers are hoping a core group of seniors will lead them to success.
Entering his 22nd season as head coach of the Quakers, Mike Sutcliffe knows the challenges posed by a schedule within the Liberty Division, but he has faith his club will have a successful season. “If we can be successful in our league than I know we have a shot once we get in the postseason," the coach said. "I just want them working hard every day and getting better. That’s my goal." The 2010 season saw the Quakers post an 11-8-2 overall record and a 3-5-2 mark within the division. With a division that features Cinnaminson, Delran, Rancocas Valley, Burlington Township and Northern Burlington, the Quakers will have a tough schedule in 2011. “We are really trying to work with our forwards right now.
