The Run for Recovery, at Full Gospel Fellowship Church in Burlington, raised money for Brianna Wittman, who was severely injured in a car accident days before her graduation last June.
A combination of business sponsors and individuals came together to raise nearly $10,000 for a Moorestown teen who was severely injured in a car accident just days before her graduation last June. Roughly 120 runners (and walkers) came out for the "Run for Recovery"—a 5K trail run/1.5-mile walk—at Full Gospel Fellowship Church in Burlington Township Saturday to show support for Moorestown High School graduate Brianna Wittman. The event was organized by Pastor Bob Ingram and his wife, Dana, who have known Wittman and her family for years. Ingram was Wittman's children's pastor when he served at Marlton Assembly of God. He described Wittman, who sang in the children's choir, as "energetic" and "vibrant." "The story of Brianna is really …

We collected some of the more notable quotes from this week's stories, including an update on crash victim Brianna Wittman's condition to the dream role for a young Moorestown actress.
“A young man walked into my car with a radio playing Rachmaninoff’s First Piano Concerto. The seduction of the music led me right back to what I cherished.” — Conservatory Without Walls founder Anthony “Tony” Casario “Brianna continues on the path to recovery. The doctors have been allowing her to breathe on her own for short periods of time. Yesterday and today she opened both of her eyes, appearing more awake.” — Joey Wittman, on his sister Brianna’s progress “It’s a very intimate kind of stage setting. It’s a very different experience for us.” — MoorArts communications trustee Candace Coleman on the group’s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee “To be the part that I’ve always wanted, this is just such a dream …

The recent Moorestown High School graduate, though still in a coma, briefly opened both her eyes last week, according to her family.
Eighteen-year-old Brianna Wittman, in a coma since a tragic car crash June 11, opened both her eyes on multiple occasions last week as she continues to recover. According to a post on her CaringBridge website last Sunday, she opened both her eyes two days in a row, her brother Joey wrote. “Brianna continues on the path to recovery. The doctors have been allowing her to breathe on her own for short periods of time … We still do not know the extent of her injury because she is still in a coma.” Cooper University Hospital has declined to release Brianna’s current condition at the family’s request, and Moorestown school officials have also declined to comment based on the family’s wishes. Moorestown Patch has been unable to reach family …

Delivering her speech to the 2012 graduating class of Moorestown High School, valedictorian Leslie Fink summed up the battlefield of the last four years. “More obstacles are lying conquered behind us,” said Fink to her classmates from the podium. “We are not the children we once were. “We are more confident now… We go forward from here and different experiences will change us.” With a crowd of proud parents, grandparents, siblings and friends looking on, Fink and her classmates became the newest alumni to graduate from the high school in the football stadium during Tuesday evening’s commencement ceremony. Salutatorian Kelsey Blair compared the graduation to a nexus of not too long ago being those young children in middle school, and now …

As her classmates prepare to graduate tonight, Moorestown High School senior Brianna Wittman continues her recovery from a horrific car accident that left the 18-year-old in a coma. The June 11 crash on I-295 caused Wittman to veer from the roadway and strike a tree, putting her in critical condition with head injuries at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Since then, family, friends and the community have rallied around the teen—so far, mostly online as Wittman’s family posted on a website that she is not ready for visitors yet. Cooper University Hospital declined to release Wittman’s current condition at the family’s request, and Moorestown school officials also declined to comment based on the family’s wishes.
