County Seeks Business Partners for Logo Contest

The county needs a new logo and Burlington County Freeholder Director Joe Donnelly wants local businesses to help put together the prize money.

To the editor: Bolstering our Burlington County business community has been and will continue to be a major focus of county government. This will be evident in the coming weeks, as we partner with business organizations countywide on a “buy local” campaign to encourage residents to spend their consumer dollars in their own downtown areas. Specifically, we are looking for business sponsorships for our recently announced logo contest designed to challenge high school students to create a logo that best reflects Burlington County, and our slogan: “South …

County Aims to Create Jobs with 'Buy Local' Campaign

Burlington County Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio says if residents spent $20 more a month at county businesses, more than $40M would be injected into the local economy.

#1 is this a good use of other people’s money (taxes)? I’d like to see the numbers on increased revenue for each dollar spent on this. #2 wouldn’t we all be more apt to buy local if business sold what we want locally? Not because I saw an ad (paid for with other people’s money) telling me to do so. Besides the fact that when what we want is local, it’s usually much cheaper online with no tax and …   more ›

County Saves $2.6 Million with Bond Refinancing

Nine Burlington County municipalities will also realize savings from the refinancing, according to a county release.

Burlington County will realize an estimated $2.6 million savings thanks to a recent $61.2 million capital bond refinancing. In addition, nine municipalities will see savings, bringing the total to an estimated $5.2 million in interest savings. “These are serious cost savings at a time when towns need it most,” said Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio. “Best of all, these cost savings translate into tax savings for the taxpayers who are footing the bill.” The refinancing, to be administered by the Burlington County Bridge Commission through its pooled loan program, will result in the retirement of bonds that were issued for the county and seven towns in aggregate bond sales in 2003 and 2004. The towns that participated in these transactions…
