A Burlington City police officer returned fire after Jason T. Bunnell shot at him during a foot chase late Monday night, according to authorities.
A Burlington City cop shot and killed a man who fired at the officer during a foot chase late Monday night. According to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, the officer was on patrol just before midnight when he stopped and attempted to speak with a suspicious man—later identified as Jason T. Bunnell, 32, last known address Mount Laurel—walking near a car dealership on the 1200 block of Route 130 South, near the border with Burlington Township. Bunnell fled on foot, and the officer ran after him. The chase led to an overgrown lot near the dealership, where authorities said Bunnell fired a shot at the officer. With the economy getting worse & more budget cuts by the cities; the crime rate will greatly increase. There will be more desperate people with weapons committing crimes. Bunnell may have been locked up before & did not want to go back to jail. Maybe he panicked, & thought if he took a random shot at the cop,the cop would not persue him & he could get away.
