Burlington County issued a warning for the next two days.
With subfreezing temperatures predicted for the next two nights, and wind chill factors dipping below 20 degrees, the Burlington County Health Department declared a Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency. The Code Blue will started at 8 p.m. Jan. 3 and remain in effect through 8 a.m. Saturday. Officials will then review and assess upcoming weather conditions. According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the low on Friday night will be around 25, with a west wind about 10 miles per hour. A Code Blue declaration is made in Burlington County when winter conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals without shelter. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing tonight and tomorrow morning—with wind chill in the teens.
With the wind chill expected to drop into the teens overnight, accompanied by strong winds and freezing temperatures, the Burlington County Health Department has declared a Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency starting at 7 p.m. tonight, which will remain in effect through 9 a.m. Friday. Burlington County issued the following press release: With a strong coastal nor’easter bringing cold weather to the area, the Burlington County Health Department today declared that a Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency will commence at 7 p.m. Wednesday and remain in effect through 7 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 8. Officials will then review and assess upcoming weather forecasts. A winter weather advisory is in effect for our area, indicating that snow, sleet or freezing rain is in the forecast, along with temperatures in the 30s, high winds and wind chill factors in the 20s. Those seeking temporary shelter can get it.
As high temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday didn't even reach 30 degrees, the Burlington County Health Department declared a Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency that will remain in effect Wednesday night through 9 a.m. Thursday. The low temperature tonight will be 26, according to the National Weather Service in Mt. Holly. This type of emergency is made when winter conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to those with no shelter.
