CORRECTION: Moorestown Makes History with First Female Mayor

"I don’t see this mayor’s job as a job being suited for a man or a woman. I see it as a job for someone who genuinely cares about our town," said Moorestown's first female mayor Stacey Jordan.

CORRECTION: Monday night was not the first time two women have served on council together. Kathy Einstein and Diane Powell served on council at the same time in 2000, after Einstein was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Salvatore Alessi after he stepped down. Township Expecting Big Crowd for Reorg Meeting

Moorestown council's annual reorganization meeting, scheduled for Monday night, has been moved to the Lenola Fire House.

Moorestown Township Council is expected to make history Monday night by getting its first female mayor—along with three new council members—so township officials have moved the venue to accommodate a larger crowd. The meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, has been moved from the high school to the Lenola Fire House.  Councilwoman Stacey Jordan is expected to be named mayor, while Councilman Chris Chiacchio will likely be named deputy mayor. Both will be sworn in by Sen. Diane Allen.
