Virtua's Moorestown Health & Wellness Center officially opens Monday, but the health system gave a sneak preview earlier this week.
CLARIFICATION: Childcare services are provided for clients/patients who are receiving services at the Health & Wellness Center or using the fitness center. However, children cannot be left at the center for childcare once the parent leaves the facility. ________________ After nearly a year and a half under construction, Virtua peeled back the curtain on its paradigm-shifting Health & Wellness Center in Moorestown Thursday night. Virtua broke ground on the $96 million project in June 2011. The facility will offer an array of outpatient services, including a fully stocked fitness center with three swimming pools, a spa, urgent care and primary care, physical therapy, cardiology and much more. The fitness center opens on Monday, with other …

Construction crews "topped off" the Moorestown Health and Wellness Center by hoisting the final steel beam into place.
In front of a large crowd made up of business leaders, local dignitaries, and interested citizens, Virtua marked a significant milestone in the construction of the Moorestown Health and Wellness Center Friday morning. Construction crews hoisted into place the final steel beam signifying the complete of the building’s steel framework. Attached to the beam were two traditional symbols: an American flag representing patriotism and an evergreen tree, to bestow good luck on the occupants of the building. Richard Miller, Virtua president and chief executive officer, said the “topping off” ceremony was a “major milestone” for the health system. The Moorestown center is the third ambulatory facility Virtua has built in the area, with the first …
The 200,000-square-foot facility is expected to be open before the end of the year.
A large crowd composed of Virtua representatives, public officials and interested members of the public gathered Friday to mark a "topping-off" ceremony for the new Virtua Health and Wellness Center on Young Avenue. During the ceremony, construction crews hoisted into place the final steel beam, signifying the completion of construction of the facility's steel framework. Check back with Moorestown Patch Saturday for more photos and a full story, including comments from Mayor John Button about just how significant a contribution Virtua's center will be to the community.

The health system's $96 million facility, across from Wegmans, will bring in about 200 new jobs once it opens next fall.
Construction on Virtua’s $96 million health and wellness center, which is expected to create about 200 new permanent jobs, is right on schedule for an early November 2012 opening. Beyond the obvious economic benefits of the center however (including the 300 temporary construction jobs it's already created), the real goal of the facility is to improve access to care and, as a result, reduce the cost of care, said Robert Hockel, vice president of ambulatory services and development. The health care market is changing, Hockel told the Moorestown Business Association (MBA) earlier this week, and Virtua’s center is intended to address those changes. Physician offices, outpatient medical services, a spa and a fitness center will all be housed …

Marcianne, During a presentation to the Moorestown Business Association toward the end of last year, a representative from Virtua said it was slated to open in early Nov. 2012. As far as I know, that hasn't changed. But I've reached out to Virtua to see if I can set up a tour of the building for myself before the doors officially open. So if I find out anything, I'll let you (and everyone else) …   more ›
