New Crosswalk Nixed, Tech Audit Discussed

Also, the township has provided an updated town hall construction schedule. And read on to find out when East Gate's liquor license might get approved.

For those who couldn’t make it to this week’s township council meeting, there were a few interesting items that didn’t make it into a full story, but were nonetheless noteworthy. Here are a few leftover tidbits from the meeting: Council will hold its next regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, in the IT room at the high school.

Township Considers Crosswalk as Solution to Access Issues at Library

Moorestown Library patrons are frustrated after fences installed around the site of town hall construction have limited ease of access to the building.

Township officials are discussing the possibility of installing a crosswalk on Second Street to improve pedestrian safety by the town hall construction site after hearing complaints from disgruntled library patrons. Visitors to the library have been parking in the municipal lot across the street since Sambe Construction erected fences around the entire municipal complex lot last month. Technically, they're supposed to walk to the light at Church and Second streets and cross at the crosswalk, but most have been crossing Second directly from the lot, putting them at greater risk to traffic.  Township manager Scott Carew said he and others have looked into putting up a temporary crosswalk that would traverse Second Street from the municipal …

The current library is an eyesore and an embarrassment. We need to knock it down and build ample parking with perhaps some additional green space. We also need to somehow incentivize and/or penalize our parks department for better results. Looks like a compost pile next to the library and the parks around town, Strawbridge, etc. are just as bad.   more ›

Tips for a Stress-Free Library Experience

Need to know where to park? Or when the library's open? Or wondering just what the heck is going on? Moorestown librarians have the answers.

If you’ve visited the Moorestown Library lately, or even just driven by, you’ve noticed things have changed a lot in a short time, especially when it comes to parking. While it’s a welcome sign that progress has finally begun on our new town hall and library, we realize this situation will definitely take some getting used to. So, we at the library offer this list of FAQs to help us all get through the initial frustration. Is the library open? Yes! The library is open during our regular hours, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday ; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday. What’s going on? A fence now encircles the entire construction area, plus the parking lot, from Second Street to Third Street and from Washington …
