Man Answering Craigslist Ad Victim of Attempted Robbery at Moorestown Mall

The man went to the mall to buy a new iPhone and instead was held up at knifepoint.

A Gibbsboro man went to the Moorestown Mall Tuesday night expecting to buy a new iPhone, but instead was held up at knifepoint.

Moorestown Police responded to a call from a 43-year-old man who was the victim of an alleged attempted armed robbery around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday night. He went to the mall to purchase an iPhone 5C he saw on Craigslist for $275.

When he arrived, the supposed seller demanded money at knifepoint. The victim escaped without injury and without losing his money.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-7 black male wearing a black baseball style hat, black t-shirt, and tan cargo style shorts.

These type of crimes are becoming more and more prevalent. Moorestown Police advise potential buyers to be careful before getting involved with a Craigslist or similar transaction be careful.

"If it looks like too good a deal, there is probably a problem with it," police said Wednesday morning. "The victim in this case was very lucky he was not injured."
