Primary Election Primer: Where and When to Vote, and Who's Running

Planning on voting? Find out everything you need to know about today's primary right here.

New Jersey’s primary election is today, and while there's no council race, a few other contests could be interesting. Here’s what to look for:

Moorestown Township Council

There is no municipal contest this year.

Burlington County Freeholder

Director Joseph Donnelly, of Cinnaminson, will attempt to hold onto his seat against Republicans 4 Burlco candidate Stephen Silver on the Republican ticket. On the Democratic side, Reva Foster runs unopposed.

Sheriff

Sheriff Jean Stanfield will attempt to fend off a challenge from Republicans 4 Burlco candidate William E. Moore III. On the Democratic ticket, candidate James Kostoplis is unopposed.

County Clerk

Timothy Tyler is the sole candidate on the Republican ticket, and Nancy Youngkin is similarly unopposed on the Democratic side.

General Assembly

Burlington County Republican candidates Jeff Banasz and Anthony Ogozalek are running against Republicans 4 Burlco candidates Constance Hare Murray and Joseph Siano for two open Assembly seats. Herb Conaway and Troy Singleton are running unopposed on the Democratic ballot.

State Senate

Sen. Diane Allen is unopposed on the Republican ballot, while Democrat Gary Catrambone runs unopposed for his party's nomination. 

Governor

Gov. Chris Christie seeks a second term, with Republicans 4 Burlco candidate Seth Grossman challenging him on the GOP ballot. On the Democratic ticket, Sen. Barbara Buono is competing for her party's nomination against Democrats for Forward Progress candidate Troy Webster.

Other races

Democrats and Republicans will also have a chance to vote for their county party committee representatives across several districts in Moorestown. Those races are detailed on the sample ballot included above. (Scroll through to see Moorestown.)
